Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has initiated disciplinary action against those handful of elements who started uncalled for protests in a bid to hinder the smooth work of the organization, said a senior executive of the company.
PTCL Senior Executive Vice President (Human Resource), Syed Mazhar Hussain told a press conference the company has served show-cause notices to around 180 employees, while another 50 have been suspended from the job.
Referring to the strike call given by Lines Staff Union, Syed Mazhar said the union was using black mailing tactics to which the company did not succumb. Rather, those who were arrested by the administration on various charges were not opposed for grant of bail by the relevant courts of law.
He said the management did not oppose their bail purely on humanitarian grounds besides observing the sanctity of Ramazan.
He said the PTCL Board had already announced an increase in the salaries of the employees in accordance with the earlier rise announced by the government.
